A Cord of 3 Strands (ACof3S) took part in River City Community Development Center's (R CITY) 2025 Black History Month Showcase. This dynamic event brought the community together to highlight the rich history, impactful contributions, and enduring legacy of African Americans throughout U.S. history.
As part of the celebration, ACof3S had the joy and privilege of leading the fashion show segment. Six incredibly talented young girls took the stage in traditional African attire, presenting a performance rooted in themes of resilience, strength, and self-empowerment.
In the weeks leading up to the showcase, the girls met each Wednesday to rehearse and reflect. Together, they explored what it means to be a Black woman, using words like “smart,” “beautiful,” “sweet,” and “lovely” to affirm their identity. These sessions became more than practice; they were moments of growth, connection, and confidence-building.
Watching the girls shine on stage; embracing the joy of performance, celebrating their heritage, and expressing their faith was deeply inspiring. Their energy and self-assurance served as a powerful reminder of the importance of nurturing young voices and creating space for authentic self-expression.
We are grateful to R CITY for hosting such a meaningful event and for inviting ACof3S to be part of it. The evening was a beautiful celebration of Black history, culture, and community—and we’re proud to have contributed to its success.
